What did the archaeologists find in Camulodonum?

I wrote this article early in 2015 for the Historical Association’s magazine Primary History.

See the article HERE

It begins with the recent find of Roman jewellery and leads into explaining how this find could be the basis for a series of enquiries into Roman Britain. At the HA’s request much of the article is concerned with the overall process of enquiry which is explained elsewhere on Thinking History – nevertheless it seemed worth keeping it all together as one article.

There’s an obvious opportunity to create a set of resource or clue cards about the finds and linked events. Pupils could puzzle over and sort through them, making links, asking questions, creating hypotheses, putting together the story I tell at the beginning of the article. I hope to make those cards later this term (autumn 2015) – fingers crossed there’s time.
